The Children’s Ministry at Vineyard Community Church offers children a loving and safe environment in which to learn about and foster a close relationship with Jesus.

Each week, our experienced and caring volunteers present a lesson that typically includes a Bible story, memory verse, a craft, and games and snacks.  We want our children to have an enjoyable experience along with being able to explain to their family what they have learned.  We also teach the children how to develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit and how they can be bold in their faith.

We offer fun monthly events because we enjoy hanging out with your kids!  Each summer, we offer Vacation Bible School and an opportunity to be baptized.

We have a nursery for infants and toddlers.  Our classrooms are currently divided up into 3 groups - preschool/kindergarten, 1st & 2nd graders, and then 3rd - 5th graders.

All teachers and volunteers have been through background checks before they are permitted to teach or work with any children.

Kids stay in the main auditorium with their parents during worship.  After worship & announcements, there is a few minute break, allowing parents time to walk their kids back to our Children's Ministry.

During check-in, the child and parent will each receive a sticker with the child’s name.  After service has concluded, parents need to return with the sticker to pick up their child.

Monthly events are usually designed so that the parent may leave their children with the volunteers and pick them up at a designated time.

The first Sunday of the month, after church, we host Kids Connect.  It is a get together with kids, teachers and parents to get more involved, connect with each other and have fun and fellowship.  Lunch is provided.

We encourage you to sign up for our Children's Ministry text/e-mail line to receive important announcements, news and events!

My name is Alicia Romero, and I am the Director of Children’s Ministry at Vineyard Community Church.

I am a Grand Junction native.  Like many others, my parents divorced when I was young, and I ended up moving around a lot, due to my dad’s railroad career.    My father raised me as a Christian, beginning as a young girl.  He taught me about God, how to pray, read my Bible.  I didn’t understand or recognize it at the time, but the Holy Spirit was a big part of my life growing up.

I am married to a wonderful husband, Roland, have 4 daughters, a grandson and a granddaughter.  We love to have fun and hang out, and usually find ourselves surrounded with kids and youth.  Our house is typically the hang out house on the weekends.  Roland and I have found ourselves coaching, supporting, mentoring, and just generally spending our everyday lives with kids all around us, not just our own.

Roland and I have volunteered with kids’ ministry at several churches.  We found our “forever home” at Vineyard Community Church in 2013.  In 2017, I was invited to be part of the Board of Directors for the church, however, my passion was still to be directly involved with children’s ministry.  In 2018, I had the opportunity to join the staff of Vineyard Community Church as the Director of Children’s Ministry, but stepped down from the Board, to avoid any conflicts of interest.

I love my new position.  The kids motivate me to be a better person every day.  I love that I am someone they enjoy being around and they benefit from the lessons we put together for them.  Watching these kiddos grow with excitement when it comes to learning the Bible just makes me happy!

I also volunteer in running our church’s outreach program.  I help coordinate activities as well as establish then foster relationships with various groups in our community, including schools and businesses.

Vineyard Community Church is my forever church.  I continue to serve others and love watching the children’s grow in age, faith and maturity.
