One Another Devotion - Day 7
By Steve Tatum
Romans 13:8-10 The Passion Translation
8 Don’t owe anything to anyone, except your outstanding debt to continually love one another, for the one who learns to love has fulfilled every requirement of the law. 9 For the commandments, “Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not covet,” and every other commandment can be summed up in these words: “Love and value others the same way you love and value yourself.” 10 Love makes it impossible to harm another, so love fulfills all that the law requires.
Love Your Neighbor
Did you ever speak something, or do something, that was hurtful to someone? Intentional or not, your words and actions can either build someone up, or tear them down.
When I was younger, I had a very sharp tongue and never gave a thought to whether or not I was hurting someone. I spoke with no thought or filter. Love never entered the picture.
When I started my walk with God, I started thinking about how my words and actions would impact others.
I try to give THANKS before I speak. Is what I’m about to say:
T – True
H – Helpful
N — Necessary
K — Kind
S – Sincere
Your words should be said with Love and your actions should show Love. It’s not hard to Love your neighbor if you ask THANKS before you speak.
Which conversations today need to be made after you ask THANKS? Are there any conversations that you’ve had recently that you are regretting? Can you now go to the person and ask forgiveness?
