One Another Devotion - Day 22
Encouraging one another
by Vivien Teetsel
Romans 15:14 NLT
I am fully convinced, my dear brothers and sisters, that you are full of goodness. You know these things so well you can teach each other all about them.”
When our family first start coming to the church, I know God but didn’t know much about the power of prayer, how to use the gifts we got from God, reading the Bible or trust God in all circumstances for that matter. And who or what is this Holy Spirit?
So I started go to the small group for women. I told Donna Faller and rest of the ladies, here is the thing - as long you don’t ask me to read or pray out loud, I will keep coming to the group. They smiled and agreed. Through grace, encouragement and kindness they showed me and loved me through everything. Even with my not so perfect Chinglish, they accept who I am.
So slowly with what I have learned from the small group and Sunday church I grew up! In fact most of you that are reading this today have some impact in my life. I am who I am today because of you! You helped me find my identity in the Lord. You helped me start get into the Word and understanding the truth. You prayed with me when I am in my lowest time. Helped me learn to trust God in all areas in my life. You showed me the goodness, love and encouragement in every way. And that is exactly what Paul means in this verse when he wrote to the Roman Christians.
Don’t think you are not qualified to do anything at the church. Words and kindness are more powerful than you realize. It really doesn’t matter how well you can memorize the verse. We are the church! Go live out the way Jesus showed us. Love one another with your whole heart. Give abundantly. And trust God with all your heart.
Thoughts/prayers for the day....
Think back in your life when someone has helped encourage you or grow in your journey. Who can you encourage today?
Have a blessed day!
