One Another Devotion - Day 29
Care for One Another
Galatians 6:9-10 (NIV)
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
I have become weary. I am not sure exactly when it happened, but I know that I feel it most of the time. As I wrote the first draft of this devotion, I heard God say that maybe you wouldn’t be so weary if you weren’t so focused on yourself. I must admit it took me by surprise, because I thought I was focusing on others and trying to do good things and help people. However when I stop to think about it, I do things that I want to do, and other things which God may be pointing me toward, those I may not do because I don’t want to use up my free time or I don’t want to spend my money or effort on that.
But the good news is today is a new day, and yesterdays are gone! I can start fresh today and take the opportunities that come into my day and do the good things. I can make our community better one opportunity at a time.
According to Paul in Galatians 6:9-10, we should not become weary, we WILL reap blessings if we just continue doing good when we have the opportunity. If we get into the mindset of being weary not only will our neighbors lose the blessing they would have gotten, but we ourselves will lose the blessing God has for us. We should be excited to know that by doing good we will be honoring our Heavenly Father. Remember every day is a new day, and even if we didn’t take the opportunities offered to us yesterday, we can take the ones offered today to bless our communities and in turn ourselves.
1. What can you do today to be good to someone?
2. How can you show the love of our Father to someone today who may not know Him?
3. How can you bless the community today?
